about

This Suite came about from a winter visit in early 2010 to our friends along the Hudson River, in New Hamburg, NY. Bob and Cara Ginder's daughter Charlotte plays the flute and has some friends in her girl scout troupe that form a six member group of these instruments - bassoon, cello, viola, clarinet, flute and sometime trumpet. A cool collection of instruments. So, after getting a sense of their capabilities, I wrote these pieces. To help them get an idea of what these pieces should sound like, I recorded them into my MOTIF. This is that collection.

Unfortunately, the Suite was never performed live by the girls but I had fun writing the tunes anyway. I hope you enjoy them.

The New Hamburg Suite was written in Jan. of 2010. What took longer was writing out the parts (how the old guys did this w/symphonies and not go blind is mind boggling - then again, Bach did go blind - ha). I recorded the pieces into the MOTIF in Feb.
